Tamao Suzumi (涼水 玉青(すずみ たまお) Suzumi Tamao?) is a secondary character in the Strawberry Panic!. She is usually left out and neglected, even though she tries very hard to satisfy everyone's needs, especially for Nagisa Aoi.

Tamao is a mature-looking beautiful girl with long azure blue hair when down it goes down almost to her rear when worn normally it is in a French braided bun held in place by a pure white hair bow that drapes down her back. Her eyes are a lavender purple color but in other works they are brown. She has light peach skin her normal clothing seem to be cute yet mature in nature.

Tamao has a nice and helpful personality who sometimes enjoys gossiping about other people when it comes to matters of love and attraction. Nagisa Aoi and Tamao tend to be a lot alike, in that they are both usually filled with energy and share a lot of the same interests.

Highly literate, she is a member of the Literature Club and loves to write poems, she wrote the script for Astraea's adaption of Carmen. She is well-regarded among her fellow Miator students; many of the first-years see her as a viable Etoile candidate.

Nagisa Aoi[]

Nagisa is Tamao's roommate who is the first person that Nagisa gets to get to know at the school and Tamao even helps Nagisa by showing her around the campus by introducing her to several of the other students as well as visiting the campus buildings. After an interesting introduction, Tamao early on showed interest in Nagisa and it quickly became apparent that she has a crush on her, which eventually turned into love. It is this attraction she has that gives her a sense of determination to be around Nagisa. Unfortunately for Tamao, Nagisa herself appears to remain oblivious to the depth of Tamao's feelings, and considers her only as a best friend throughout the series. Tamao often goes overboard with regards to her obsession with Nagisa, for example, calling her 'My Nagisa', scaring her just to capture her 'cute' screams on tape and taking full body measurements of her under the pretense of ordering a school uniform when, in a true desire, she just wants to write this 'precious data' in her notebook.

  • The name Tamao means "ball" (玉) (tama) and "blue" (青) (o).
  • Tamao's surname Suzumi means "cool, refreshing" (涼) (suzu) and "water" (水) (mi).

  • (Tamao's poem) "Oh, rainbow that shines of seven colors, invite me to the world of the unknown. Intrigued by your gentle smile, I gave up everything. But, rainbow, you are only an illusion. Never will the distance between us diminish. Oh, rainbow. Rainbow! When I take notice, I am far away from my home. Am I not allowed to return? Is my destination the sea of sorrow? Or is it the edge of the devastated earth? Still, I regret not. Even if I die frozen, in the ray of cold light. Oh, rainbow! Rainbow! My beloved rainbow! I live with thee."
  • "That confused Nagisa-chan look is also very good"

She was born on April 16.
